Te Awamutu - 13Km, 10mins
The fair ''Rose Capital of New Zealand', and birthplace of Tim and Neil Finn (members of classic bands Split Enz and Crowded House) is an attractive rural town supporting dairy, beef sheep and deer farming.

The Rose Gardens (A kaleidoscope of colour from November to March), many bush & lake walks and Alphra Lavenders (Lavender in bloom November to January and a large range of lavender products) make Te Awamutu an attractive botanical destination. For the more active, Rock Climbing & Abseiling at Wharepapa and the eight golf courses within an hour of the town provide solace from the flowers and shrubbery.
